Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 Lot 31

one of two Tribute wines created to honour the vision and determination of our founder John Marynissen who passed away on January 2, 2009.

Lot 31 is home to, reportedly, the oldest planting of Cabernet Sauvignon in Canada. (planted in 1978)

The age of vine provides depth of flavours and concentration of minerality and phenolics. Produced in a typically "Old World" style, the wine is balanced, elegant and has lovely dried fruit character.

**** (out of 5)
Sourced from the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in Canada—planted 1978—it’s an opportunity to taste history. The alluring nose delivers tobacco leaf, tar and spice notes. Under the grip of the firm tannin structure there’s a rush of racy flavour with pie cherry and ripe cranberry galore. This has the provenance and balance to reward careful cellaring—drink 2015 to 2020. One dollar per bottle donated to the St. Catharines General Hospital in memory of John Marynissen, the visionary who planted these vines. (Vic Harradine- winecurrent.com)
